‘Killer nanny’ Louise Woodward has a baby

Louise and Antony Eikes are said to be delighted at the birth

FORMER nanny Louise Woodward has become a mother – 16 years after she was jailed in the US for killing a baby in her care.Louise, 35, convicted in October 1997 of shaking eight-month-old Matthew Eappen to death, is understood to have given birth to a son on New Year’s Day.

She and her husband Antony Elkes, 32, are said to be “thrilled” but the couple have so far declined to comment.
A man who answered the door at her mother Susan’s home in Barnston, Wirral, smiled when asked about the baby but also declined to comment further. Louise, now known as Louise Elkes and a salsa dance teacher in Bridgnorth, Shropshire, has previously said: “I know there are some people waiting for me to have a baby so they can say nasty things.
“It upsets me but that is not going to stop me leading my life. I am innocent, I have done nothing wrong.
“I am entitled to enjoy my life. I am not going to apologise for being happy.”
Despite being jailed for 15 years, Louise was released after just 279 days when she won an appeal to reduce her conviction to involuntary manslaughter.
A judge reduced her sentence to the time she had already spent behind bars.
Since returning to Britain, Louise has immersed herself in local life – despite studying as a lawyer, she runs dance classes at a village hall.
Friends say she has been “desperate” for a baby for some time and was “delighted” when she and Antony – whom she married last May – found out she was expecting.
The former nanny chose not to talk about her pregnancy, saying that she wished to “maintain her privacy
